A Special Library Board meeting will be held on Thursday, March 10th at 5 p.m. in the meeting room of the Main Library. The schematic design for the East Regional Library facility will be presented and discussed. The meeting is open to the public. The agenda is available here.

The City/Parish Council authorized a cooperative agreement enabling the East Regional Library to be built on property located adjacent to Fabacher Field (at the Southside Regional Park). The location is on La Neuville Rd. near its intersection with Hwy 89 (Youngsville Hwy). The new library is currently under design and is expected to be approximately 15,000 sq. ft. It will include a large book collection, story time room, meeting and study spaces and computers, and will be open 7 days a week.

East Regional Library Building Program

The Library Board adopted the building program for the East Regional Library on Monday, December 20, 2010.

The project architect is Charles Beazley, Architects Beazley Moliere. Work on the design is expected to begin in early 2011.

NOTICE OF REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS

Notice is hereby given that sealed proposals will be received ONLY in the office of the Purchasing Division at Lafayette Consolidated Government Building, located at 705 West University, Lafayette, Louisiana until Three o’clock p.m. (3:00 p.m.) on the 18th day of December, 2007, for the following:

EAST REGIONAL LAFAYETTE PUBLIC LIBRARY

and will, shortly thereafter, be opened and the Proposers Names only will be read aloud in the Council Briefing Room located at 705 West University Avenue, Lafayette, LA. Proposals received after the above specified time will not be considered and shall be returned unopened to the sender.

Copies of the RFP specifications are available at the Purchasing Office located at 705 West University Avenue, Lafayette, LA 70506. Telephone number (337) 291-7187 (Attn: Anna Lou). The RFP package shall be available until twenty-four (24) hours before the proposal opening time.

No Proposer may withdraw his proposal for at least one hundred (100) days after the time scheduled for the opening of proposals. Each proposal shall be submitted as provided in the specifications.

Proposals will be evaluated by the Purchaser based upon the evaluation criteria as provided in the specifications. The Lafayette Consolidated Government reserves the right, to waive informalities, and to select the property that best suits its needs.

Property search continues

The Library Board and Building Committee are still seeking property for the East Regional Library. The requirements are between 4 and 6 acres of land within a 1.5 mile radius of the Intersection of Ambassador Caffery South and Hwy 89 (Youngsville Hwy). The site should be easily visible and accessible from a major roadway.

The Library Board of Control and Building Committee continue to look at possibilities for property in our target area of a 1 1/2 mile radius from the intersection of the future Ambassador Caffery South and Hwy 89 (Youngsville Hwy).

Property sought for East Regional Library:

Sealed proposals are being accepted until 3 pm on June 5, 2006 for property. We are seeking 4-6 acres within the corporate limits of Lafayette Parish, Louisiana for the purposes of constructing the East Regional Library facility. The proposed site must be located within a 1.5 mile radius of the future Ambassador Caffery South / Hwy 89 (Youngsville Hwy) intersection, and should be highly visible, easily accessible, and be able to offer access to all major utilities.
